About

Part of the Northern Italian Alps, the Dolomites are characterized by jagged peaks, lush forests, scenic valleys, and icy glaciers.

Falling in love with the Dolomites and its provinces of Belluno, Bolzano, Trentino, Udine, and Pordenone is easy. This mountainous region in the Northern Italian Alps is a favorite destination for nature lovers visiting Italy. Dominated by nearly 20 majestic peaks, the region is famed for its diverse landscape, fabulous cuisine, world-class ski centers, and charming towns surrounded by meadows and rolling hills.

Thanks to its million year old Mesozoic carbonate platform system, the Dolomites became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2009. Kick off your travel adventure by visiting the alpine town of Belluno and enjoy outdoor activities like trekking and mountain biking. This picturesque town is nestled between two rivers and serves as the gateway to the Dolomites. Nearby, travelers will find the charming village of Cortina d'Ampezzo.  Home to one of the world’s most famous ski resorts, the village is packed with posh hotels and elegant dining establishments where you can try the local cuisine.

The capital of South Tyrol, Bolzano is a must-visit destination when exploring the Dolomites. This lively town is well-known for its flower-lined promenades, fabulous architecture, and a cable car that transfers passengers to the nearby ski areas.

Wine lovers can look forward to visiting Valle Isarco, while culture vultures who wish to know more about the local culture and the Ladin community can head out to Alta Badia. If you are into skiing, visit some of the best ski centers in the world, such as Val Gardena Ski Resort, Cortina d'Ampezzo Ski Resort, and Ortisei Ski Resort.
