About

Hugged by the Ionian and the Adriatic Sea, Puglia is known for its historical villages, olive groves and orchards, and excellent cuisine.

Welcome to Puglia, one of Italy's up-and-coming tourist destinations. With cliffs overlooking the sun-kissed beaches with crystal-clear waters and baroque towns with white-washed trullo houses, this charming region in southeastern Italy has everything you need for a memorable vacation.

Also known as Apulia, the region comprises vineyards, gentle hills covered in olive trees, and great valleys. Whether you wish to explore the ancient forest of Umbra, discover picturesque hilltop towns such as Martina Franca, Locorotondo, an dCisternino, or pay a visit to the small Tremiti islands, there is plenty to look forward to when vacationing in Puglia. Nicknamed the "Florence of the South”, the town of Lecce in the Salento area is well-known for its baroque monuments.

The region is divided into 6 different provinces: Bari, Brindisi, Foggia, Lecce, Taranto, and Barletta-Andria-Trani. Along the coast, Otranto is one of the most popular seaside resorts in the region. Culture vultures can visit the town of Bari and admire the beauty of attractions such as the Basilica di San Nicola and the12th-century Castello Svevo.

Trulli houses are one of the main attractions in Puglia. Traditionally built without using mortar, these white colonial houses are located all across the region. For instance, the town of Alberobello is made up entirely of Trulli houses. Located just a short drive from Alberobello, Castellana Grotte is a spectacular underground cave system where travelers can go on a guided tour.
